The Young Christian Democratic Union (Ifjúsági Kereszténydemokrata Szövetség, "IKSZ") is the partner youth organisation of Christian Democratic People’s Party (Kereszténydemokrata Néppárt, “KDNP”), the third largest political group in the Hungarian Parliament, also a member of European People’s Party. Established in 2001, IKSZ is the only youth organisation representing Christian democratic values in Hungarian political life currently. With above 150 local groups and above 2000 members, we are a successful, effective and constantly growing organisation, proud of our aims and activities. Our basic values are: - non-violence; - propriety; - respect of traditions; - protection of life and mankind; - protection of defenceless and civilians (principle of subsidiarity); - radical protection of environment; - emphasised support of families; - support of Christian communities; - support of Hungarian minorities abroad; - principle of sustainable development. Due to the active cooperation with KDNP, our members are more and more involved into the political work of the party, which enables us to represent the interests and views of the Hungarian youth on a national and European level as well. Our international relations are in an inchoate stage. We constantly cooperate with László Surján, Member of the European Parliament (EPP-ED). Further, our members participate international scholarships and trainings, especially of community institutions and European universities. Our Europe Club serves as a professional workshop for our international work. At our monthly meetings we focus on questions related to the fields of economy, culture and diplomacy in Europe. President of IKSZ: Bence Rétvári, member of the Hungarian Parliament and member of the Assembly of the Municipality of Budapest. International Secretary: Péter Zalai. Contact: ifjusag@kdnp.hu
